Most of it is fortune.
The rest is how you think.
Frameworks and tools for people thinking through what comes next.
Lucanise: systems and tools for thinking clearly and acting well in a world mostly ruled by fortune. Notes on fortune, decisions and mental economy, and the practical tools that come out of them.
Fortune shapes most of what happens. The era you were born into, the markets that happened to be moving, the call you took or didn't, the people who showed up when it mattered. Treating fortune as a structural condition, not a personal verdict, is what separates clear thinking from wishful thinking. It is the precondition for every decision that follows.
Mental economy is what answers it. Attention, energy, time and money are scarce, and each one spent here is not spent elsewhere. Much of what feels like a lack of discipline is an allocation problem: open loops charging interest, worry paid in advance, effort still flowing to what is already gone. You cannot choose the hand. You can choose where you stand when it moves, and what you spend while you wait.
Decisions are where the two meet: allocating something scarce without seeing the whole board. Outcomes are not evenly distributed, and a small number of choices produce most of what a life and a body of work become. The discipline is to judge the decision rather than the result, to seek bounded downside and open upside, to refuse what can ruin you, and to set the exit before you enter, while you can still think coldly.
Systems are the capital that follows. Invested once, they keep paying, or keep costing, without new decisions. The ones worth building, how you decide, how you organise your digital life, how you recover, get sharper when conditions get worse. Stress becomes information. Clutter, digital or mental, stops being a tidiness problem and becomes an allocation problem you can actually solve.
Clear thinking is what remains, and the only thing that was ever in your hands. Fewer decisions, made with less noise, honest about what you control, what you do not, and where the asymmetric upside actually sits. Most of it is fortune. The rest is how you think.
